MHB Obtains $450,000 Settlement for Black ATF Agent in Discrimination Case

Posted by Tiffany Cartwright

MHB Client Cheryl Bishop will receive $450,000 to settle her claims of racial harassment and retaliation against her employer, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.  Ms. Bishop was represented by MHB attorney Jesse Wing.

Ms. Bishop, a long-time ATF agent and supervisor, alleged that she was denied an opportunity to work at ATF headquarters after she filed a complaint against another ATF supervisor who proudly displayed a Nazi tattoo, sent emails to Bishop and others mocking Black people, and disparaged Ms. Bishop and her work at the agency.

More about the case can be read here in the Seattle Times or here from Diversity Inc.
